The news of the return of the “Metallic Gold” Nike Air Flightposite I later this year was a welcomed development for fans of the groundbreaking silhouette. As with any re-release of any returning classic, one of the concerns with fans is will the sneaker be brought back in all its original glory, and the Flightpisite is no different.
Initial images emerged and all seemed well until we got a gander at the medial side. Instead of an outsole that wraps up along the upper and is equipped with flex grooves at the forefoot, Nike phoned it in, opting for a flattened option.
With that myopic, indolent course of action, the anticipation for a sneaker was doused. Unfortunately the act of altering major visual attributes for a retroed; this is the same company that had the gall to release Air Jordan XIIIs sans 3M and reduced the patent rand on Jordan down to a skimpy strip of material.
If that is indeed the final release, we predict that parties still interested in this somewhat butchered sneaker exercise patience as these will likely populate sales racks and clearance stores in fairly short order.
